The rain is falling hard outside
Almost a storm
As I lay there and stare
Thinking I’ll miss the summer
Those short, hot nights
Sticky with sweat, panting
Making love in the heat
Before open windows and
Hoping for a breeze

Yet you press against me
Even now, warming me
Under the blanket
Your hands wander, demanding
I answer
The storm seems no longer so sad
But the perfect excuse
To stay in bed
And as you move over me
I embrace the fall
