Looking down at shaking hands
Lost for words
I need distance
To soften the blow
Of miserable failure
Knees hugged against my chest
Carrying within
Dreaded realization
Of misunderstanding
That leaves me mute
And worried
Longing for friendly words
That might make my eyes well up
