Click hereWritten for the Historical Persons Challenge on the PF&D Forum. The challenge was to write a poem based on a famous person (or poet) you admire. Mine, obviously, is a mini-glosa dedicated to P.K. Page.
P.K. Page
In Autumn I see her by the window,
a tea-colored sky outside as she sips
from a stone cup while a kettle boils dry.
On the table is a book by Rilke
with burnt ochre leaves pressed between the poems.
As she watches the daylight disappear
an implacable black cat scratches on
the wrong side of the door and she whispers
words that warm her as the cold night grows near:
nowhere-anywhere-is more safe than here.
You have some gorgeous imagery here, S... the tea-colored sky, in particular, I found beautiful. The whole poem so quietly speaks volumes.
