Thanks Anon. Yes, I was concerned about how this chapter would go over. It isn't so much about misandry or misogyny. Casey is a pragmatist and will try to make the most of her situation anyway, and that has been the main factor for her going along with any of this all along. I did try to establish that from the beginning but I probably should have stressed it a bit more somehow. At this point though I felt she needed a secondary motivator to give her a little push to complete the story arc. This is just something she latches onto to try to justify the things she has been forced to do, and while that will continue to inspire her and influence other characters, it's not really what the story is about or any sort of soapbox to express any opinions I may or may not have personally. It's about the character and what drives her, and while it does lead her in some interesting directions, it by no means leads her to hate men or vice versa. While she blames "the patriarchy", she's more about protesting outdated moralities and censorship while simultaneously celebrating her femininity. The story is more an exploration of a society that has made public nudity and indentured slavery legal but both are still relatively new. It's about one character's journey after being forced into it and how she deals with it, and how other characters deal with her.

The art references were based on research, although mostly opinion pieces. Misinformed? Maybe. One-sided? Sure, and hey a little artistic license is permissible after all. If I can have legal nudity and slavery, I can stretch it a bit elsewhere as well. ;) Censorship and airbrushing of genitals was indeed a factor in more modern times but thankfully is turning around these days. Whether there was or still is any link with the number of labiaplasty procedures is up for debate.

I have been reading each chapters with great anticipation.

Great start, with interesting plot twists, with a strong sense of anticipation for the next chapters. And the pacing has been good also.

But then the story started to curve off to a weak version of confused reluctance and even compliance seemingly out of nowhere, as no real motivators or drives are revealed or tied to her actions. Is she secretly turned on? you did refer to it once bit those motivations slip to the background.

But: the derailing addition of some type of misandry driven interpretation of a sub section of history based on a misinformed one-sided view of historical art just took the wind out of this story's sails.

Depictions of nude males and females were most often close legged as modesty was a strong director in art for a very long time. In such a pose one can see almost nothing of the vulva, meaning what is showing is a small slit where the legs meet. for males one can either show or not show the genitals they don't lend themselves to be hidden in the same manner. Although most often were depicted quite modestly and rather small. So that the painting or statue would not offend or be considered vulgar. Which would harm the artists reputation and thereby income.

Please don't misunderstand, I truly hope you keep writing. You are quite good at it :)

But please do keep misandry out of it (as well as misogyny for that matter) unless it is of course a part of some characters personal flaws/motivations to act a certain way. (which wasn't the case here)

So despite my frown written above, can't wait to see a spinoff that stays a bit more in the non-reluctance realm.
