Sen critically inspected the torn shirt and shredded cloak. "Might be easier to replace them, if that's fine with you. Otherwise, I'll have to ask a favor of Idunn." She waggled her fingers in a mock spellcasting gesture.
Now fully dressed, he joined Sen at the door. "I don't want to impose on you too much."
She giggled softly. "Don't worry. I'll see what I can do. Now, come with me."
Together, they briskly walked through the students' corridors until they arrived at a closed door. Sen gently knocked.
"Come in!" It was Idunn's voice. Sen opened the door and let Rhys enter. It was a room like many on this floor, with a large bed, wardrobe, armchairs, desk and a fireplace. Idunn, with a large bag at her side from which she had pulled several ampoules, bandages and poultices, stood at the bed, tending to a naked, brunette woman. She was haggard and pale, her body -- where not already bandaged -- covered in bruises and cuts. The right half of her face was covered with a large ice bag but, despite all of the injuries and the bag, Rhys instantly recognized her.

bhojoabout 3 years agoI love this story. The characterisation is great. Its not all might and muscles. Individuals have a backstory ... I wonder about faedal. Is he really a willing participant. It sounds like he was also enslaved in a ritual when Elara was captured. That would ironic and so true to life , where even the villains are just heroes who have gotten tarnished with age
