Interesting but tangled tale

I've previously read the saga of the drifter/handyman and his 18ye daughter, and how he handed her over to a woman of the night. Was if by this author, or another? The boardinghouse fire is also familiar, as is the VA hospital scene. I'm wondering if I previously read this whole story, or was it made from bits and pieces of other stories?

I've read the epilog twice and still can't make all the connections. Must I go back and read the story this is connected to, which I read long ago, in order for it to make sense? It would have been nice if the author had made the connections clear in the closing paragraphs -- some of us just don't remember every detail of everything we have read, over the years.

I guess...

I may have to do this with all my old "Thesandman" stories. People arn't bothering to read my bio comments. :) So yeah...if this story sounds familiar? Because it's recently been reposted by request. And though I am now Many Feathers, I will always remain,

I had tears in my eyes...

...at the end of this story. This was a very emotional and touching story. It was funny, sad, sexy, really a wonderful written piece. You mentioned that Maggie was based on a real woman that you knew. She certainly seems like she would have been an interesting person to know.

Turns

Very good story. You took some rather curious turns, but in the end, a turn for the better. Nice, but sad, wrap up.

Thank you...

Glad you enjoyed the story. But you should read the story previous to that one too....The Ya Ya Dildo hood. Gives you even more insight into this amazing woman!

GREAT AMERICAN LOVE STORY

You have accomplished in 13 pages what few people accomplish in three-hundred-page sagas: a story that captures the heart as it describes the American Dream with all its warts and farts. Maggie is now a part of the American literary legacy. As a writer waanabee, I appreciate the magnitude of your accomplishment. Hemmingway could not have done better.CONGRATULATIONS

Very Good

Absolutely a great read. The graphic details of the sex were well done but made more palatable with a great understanding of motives and circumstances. Having read the "Sisterhood" Maggie's character really comes alive. Do I see a paperback publication?

Held My Attention

The two stories kept me enthralled to the end. I feel as if I knew Maggie and Richard. I will miss Maggie, the girls, Richard and Rhonda. 🙁

I really like your characters, and your even-handed approach to sexual pleasure and joy for both men and women in so many different combinations. Your rose-tinted view of sex work was a bit off-putting for me.
